Am Donnerstag fuhren wir weiter nach Rotorua. Nach einem Kaffee und Wäsche waschen fanden wir mit viel Glück und etwas Geduld einen der wenigen Overnight Campingplätze mitten in der Stadt. Dieser lag zwar direkt neben einem Schwefelbad, aber der Geruch war aushaltbar. Am Abend fand in der Stadt ein Nacht-Markt statt mit Essen aus aller Welt. Es war richtig köstlich. Am Freitagmorgen war dann der Besuch in Hobbiton angesagt. Der Ort an dem Herr der Ringe und der Hobbit gedreht wurden.
Die knapp zwei stündige Führung war super spannend und interessant. Am Nachmittag fuhren wir dann nur noch nach Tauranga zum Einkaufen und anschliessend zum Anzac Bay wo wir uns einen gemütlichen Abend machten.
Nach unserem mittlerweilen obligaten Samstagmorgen Schwumm, verbrachten wir noch einige Zeit in Tauranga. Einer etwas grösseren Hafenstadt. Am späteren Nachmittag machten wir uns auf den Weg nach Whangamata um dort zu übernachten. Ein kleines Städtchen, in dem selbst an einem Samstagabend nicht allzuviel los war.
Am Sonntagmorgen fuhren wir zeitig los zur Cathedral Cove. Ein Shuttlebus brachte uns zum Startpunkt des 45minüten Tracks. Es folgte ein stetiges Bergauf und ab, bis wir den Strand erreicht hatten. Das war ganz toll anzusehen. Zum Glück waren wir zeitig unterwegs, so hatte es noch nicht allzuviele Leute. Ich nahm ein kurzes Bad im Meer und bald machten wir uns auf den Rückweg. Keine Minute zu späht, denn jetzt kamen die Menschenmassen.
Zurück auf dem Parkplatz fuhren wir weiter nach Coromandel. Ein Städtchen das uns ganz gut gefiel. Wir verbrachten den Nachmittag mit spazieren und machten uns langsam an die Planung unsere Route durch Süd-West-Amerika.

On thursday we drove further to Rotorua. After a coffe and doing laundry we found with patience and a lot of luck one of the few places for overnight camping in the city center. This was directly next to a sulfur bath but the smell was to accept. In the evening the had a night market in the city with food from all over the world - it was delicious.
Friday morning we had scheduled the visit for Hobbiton - the place where they filmed the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit. The tour which took almost two hours was very interesting.
In the afternoon we only drove to Tauranga for shopping food and then we went on to Anzac Bay where we spent a comfortable night.
After our mandatory sathurday morning swimming we spent some time in Tauranga..
During the late afternoon we drove on to Wangamata to get overnight rest there. A small place with nothing happening even on a sathurday night.
We took off on time on sunday to the cathedral cove. A shuttle took us the start of the 45min track followed by a continuous up and down until we reached the beach. The cove was nice to look at. Luckily we were on time so there were just a few people. I took a short swim in the ocean and soon we went on our way back. Not a minute late since now the masses of people came.
Back at the parking our trip continued to Coromandel - a little village which we quite liked. We spent the afternoon with walking around and started to do some research about about south-west america.
