Von 3900m.ü.M. auf 0m.ü.M.
Nach zwei weiteren Ruhetagen in Cuenca ging es am Freitagmorgen weiter mit dem Wanderbus. Unser erster Halt war im El Cajas National Park auf 3900m.ü.M. Der Nationalpark ist das dritt älteste geschützte Naturreservat in Ecuador nach den Galapagos Inseln und dem Cotopaxí National Park. Wir genossen die Landschaft bei eisigem Wind für einige Minuten, waren dann aber wieder froh zurück in den warmen Bus zu können. Die Fahrt ging ab diesem Moment nur noch bergab. Bei knapp 2000m.ü.M. machten wir noch einmal einen Halt beim Aussichtspunkt The Cloud view. Dieser Name kommt nicht von ungefähr, bestaunt man doch ein unglaubliches Wolkenmeer. Kurz darauf waren wir dann in diesen Wolken und nach weiteren 2h Fahrt darunter an der Küste. Unser nächster Halt war auf einer Cacao Farm. Dort wurden wir von tausenden Mücken begrüsst. Wir machten einen kurzen Rundgang und konnten anschliessend unsere eigene Schokolade herstellen. Die Kakaobohnen werden getrocknet, geröstet und dann geschält. Danach werden die Bohnen durch eine Art Fleischwolf gedreht und heraus kommt reinste Schokolade. 100% ohne irgendwelche Zusatzstoffe. Die Beste Schokolade die ich je gegessen habe. (Übrigens importieren die Schweizer Schokoladenhersteller ihre Bohnen von hier.. :) )
Nach dem Mittagessen ging die Fahrt weiter quer durch die Grossstadt Guayaquil bis kurz vor Montañita. Dort hatten wir noch einmal einen Halt in einer kleinen Community welche Panamahüte und Taschen von Hand herstellt. Anschliessend an diesen kurzen Stopp kamen wir dann auch schon am Endziel, Montañita, an. Das kleine ehemalige Fischerdorf wurde inzwischen zu einer Partystadt. Wir wählten ein Hostel etwas ausserhalb um den Lärm zu entgehen. Von unserem Zimmer aus ist das einzige was wir hören das Meeresrauschen.
Das kleine Städtchen ist nicht wirklich schön, bietet aber viele Restaurants, Bars und Clubs. Besonders ist Sie aber auch bei den Surfern beliebt. Die wellige Küste bietet für Anfänger bis zu Profis genau das richtige Terrain.

From 3'900 meters above sealevel to 0 meters above sealevel
After two more quiet days in cuenca we continued on friday morning with Wanderbus. First stop was El Cajas National Park on 3'900m.a.s. The park is the third oldest protected nature reservoir in Ecuador after the Galapagos and Cotopaxí. We enjoyed the landscape by icy wind for a few minutes but then we were happy to be back in the bus. Starting from there the ride only continued downwards and we had anlther stop in 2'000m.a.s. at a viewpoint called 'The Cloud view'. The name has its purpose since you can see a huge cloud ocean from there. Shortly after that we were in those clouds and after two more hours we reached the coast region. Our next stop was on a Cacao Farm where we were greeted from thousands of Moskitos. After a short tour we could produce our own chocolate :) the beans are being dried, roasted and pield before you put them in some kind of mincer. The result = pure chocolate. 100% with no addatives. Best chocolate I have ever eaten and btw.. The swiss import their beans from here ;) after lunch we continued through the big city of Guayaquil all the way just before Montañita where we stoped at a small Community which produces Panama Hats and Bags (handmade). After this stop we reached our final destination Montañita. A small fishing village which had transformed into a Party destination. We chose a hostel a bit outside to flee the party noise and the only thing we can hear from our room is ocean waves. The small village is not really beautiful but offers a lot of restaurants, pubs and bars and is very well known for surfing. The waves here offer something for everyone: from beginner to pro - choose yourself.
